Presentation Skills
Recently i have discovered a great new presentation device its really opened a whole new level of presenting ideas and pitches to me.
Prezi allows for a seemless presentation without indivual slides which really helps the flow of a presentation.
however as a student i often have to follow strict criteria for my assignments and im really hoping i can convince my tutors to allow me to use this platform for my next presentations.
for anyone who reads this and wants to experiment with new technologies i highly recommend prezi as an alternative to powerpoint presentations.
Expirence = Expense
This evening I shall be attending the TED X conference at the hub. and it got me thinking about the importance PR places on conferences.
Before I began to study PR in Cheltenham the concept of a conference was slightly alien to me. Presently in my third year I now understand the importance in Listening to others opinions, views etc. and not forgetting the emphasis of networking and building up your contact list from others in the industry.
With This in mind i must enquire morally how organizers can charge students such prices. Last year i attended the CIPR’s conference for young communicators and was astonished to be charged in excess of £80.00. as a student with no regular income i was constantly living on the breadline and this amount could have paid for over a months worth of food shopping….
so now with my rant over i must say i was pleased to discover that TED X will be free of charge!
your thoughts on the importance of conferences and networking?
How do you like your eggs?…
…or social media
slightly on a tagent from the headline…. unless you count the overly cute twitter birds eggs?
Before I began my Internship at the start of November i was under the illusion that social media sites were exactly that ’social’ however the more i look into it the more apparent it becomes that Public Relations, Marketing and a whole host of other communications companies are ever increasing their presents on these different social media sites with an emphasis on Twitter and Facebook.
However I do question whether this is entirely moral of us? I now have a little man in my head telling me that this space is designed for mutual social interaction between individuals. I myself have put up posts’ etc for the benefit of the company I work for. But when i think back just a few years i was not best pleased when I would have adverts pop up with my name incorporated… i was slightly nieave and belived some man from across the other side of the globe had hacked all my details……… im going off point again.
So it would be great to gauge (is this the correct spelling*) people views and opinions about the every growing presence of PR within social media, keeping an objective viewpoint
* I Forget that i have not made a proper introduction to myself … im dyslexic however (not an excuse though I realise)
